Mustafa's journey from a small garment shop in Little India to a major shopping destination on Syed Alwi Road.
The first shop
The first Mustafa shop was established in Campbell Lane in Little India, selling readymade garments.
Expansion to Serangoon Road
A 900 sq ft shop was rented along Serangoon Road and electronic items were added. A second adjacent 900 sq ft unit followed as customer traffic grew.
Serangoon Plaza
Mr Mustaq Ahmad rented 40,000 sq ft on the ground floor of Serangoon Plaza. The store became an immediate success and expanded further within the building.
Syed Alwi Road
Old shophouses along Syed Alwi Road were acquired one by one, laying the foundation for a purpose-built shopping centre close to Serangoon Plaza.
Mustafa Centre becomes a reality
After two years of planning, Mustafa Centre opened in April 1995 and quickly became a major shopping destination for local and international customers.
Shopping and services under one roof
Mustafa's offering spans hundreds of thousands of items, with additional services including money exchange, remittance, travel and tours.
